University St. Augustine’s

The University St. Augustine’s initially named Meharry College LLC has a rich history, dating back to its predecessor, Shaw College At Detroit. 
 
Founded using an old right dating back to 1846, known as the Historic Great Lakes Lutheran Church University Education Charter, Proprietary, and K12 School Authority.  
 
Over nearly 200 years, The Lutheran Episcopalian Church Governance of the Historic Education Charter organized more than 2,000 Proprietary and K12 Schools throughout the Nation and Canada, and in the state of Michigan in 1910-1912.  
 
Recognized initially in the state of Michigan by the Michigan Constitution in 1921 – 1931, and subsequently Registered in the State of Michigan in 1936, as a Higher Education Institution known as The National Academy of Science and Human Relations, Inc., and Polygynasium, and subsequently as Michigan Lutheran College.
  
The institution has undergone several transformations including the name changed to Meharry College, LLC  according to an “Orders” of the U.S. Federal Court, MI; 1.9.1985, and subsequent Court Orders 1986, 1987, 1995, empowering its reorganization as a Higher Education Institution and “Dual High School and College Institute”; Carolina’s Early College,   in response to Civil Rights challenges Metro Detroit Minority Citizens’, endured associated with denial of access to admission in Public and Private Institutions of Higher Education throughout the state of Michigan, after the landmark decisions Brown -V-Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483,, 1952-1954, and  Plessy-V-Furgerson; 163 U.S. 537, 1896.

 

The “University St. Augustine’s” (USA) actualized, is organized according to its authority as a Historic Black College and University (HBCU), by authorization of the U.S. Presidential Executive Order 12320

Carolina’s Early College

Carolina’s Early College is a pre-college faculty of the University of St. Augustine’s that serves students in grades 8-12. It was organized and registered in the state of Michigan and merged with MeHarry College, LLC in 1982, according to a U.S.
Federal Court Order, MI; 1.9.1985.

The school features a dual high school college institute that provides exciting opportunities for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to explore their academic passions while striving for academic excellence in a professional career.
Students enrolled, registered, and attending may gain college experience at a Historical Black College and University (HBCU), and benefit from the on-campus experience that builds character and life skills.

The predecessor of Carolina’s Early College is the “Polygymnasium Institute”, which was a hallmark private school academy serving grades 10 and 12 in the secondary school systems from 1910/1912 to 1936.
It was authorized by the Great Lakes Lutheran University Education School Charter, Proprietary, Primary and Secondary School System, Michigan Lutheran College.

Carolina’s Early College is a Pre-College Faculty at the University St. Augustine’s featuring a Dual High School College Institute that provides an exciting opportunity for current high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to explore their academic passions while diving into the college experience and campus life.

Many high school students are anxious or unsure about which colleges to apply to, let alone what major to pursue. Participating in a pre-college summer program, like the USA Institutes, allows students to try out possible majors and career paths. We offer two options to fit the needs of your high schooler: the three-week, credit-bearing Summer Scholars Program or the ten-week, credit USA Institutes. Both experiences enable students to concentrate on the subject area they are most interested in and develop friendships with other high-achieving high school students Globally.

Carolina’s Early College, in partnership with the University of St. Augustine’s, offers a unique opportunity for high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to explore their academic passions and get a taste of college life. Many students experience deciding on a college and a major can be daunting. That’s why participating in a pre-college summer program like the USA Institutes is so valuable.
